Jobe Stewart entered 2024 as the reigning Super3 champion, but is now aiming for more as he graduates into Super2.
Last year, Stewart became another Erebus Academy driver to move onto the Supercars ladder when he made his Dunlop Super3 Series debut with Image Racing.
He was rock solid all season, culminating in an emotional Super3 title triumph after a season-long battle with the likes of Cameron McLeod and Jett Johnson.
Stewart first came under Erebus Motorsport's umbrella back in 2017, when he was still just 12 years old and racing in go-karts.
The Mount Gambier product made his first steps towards car racing by taking part in the Academy's Karts to Cars program in late 2019 before moving into the Toyota GAZOO Racing Australia 86 Series the following year.
The 2022 TGRA 86 season proved a breakout one for Stewart, who finished third overall with five podium finishes to his name. While the step from the little 86 to the fire-breathing V8 was a big one, 2023 wasn't the Stewart's first time behind the wheel of a Supercar.
He completed a Super3 test in 2022 aboard one of Image Racing’s Project Blueprint-era Ford Falcons, while the Erebus Academy gave him a couple of opportunities to test the squad's ‘Mercodore' Mercedes-engined ZB Commodore at Winton as part of its ‘Who's Next' program.
Come 2023, and Stewart was ready to go, duly delivering a title for Image and Erebus.

Jarrod Hughes is the latest pupil from Paul Morris' Norwell Motorplex racing school on the Gold Coast to join the Supercars ladder system.
He follows the likes of Broc Feeney and Anton De Pasquale, with Hughes aiming to reach the main game.
Hughes started racing karts at age 10, before graduating to cars via Hyundai Excels.
He shifted to Toyota 86s, and finished seventh overall in 2022 before improving to fifth in 2023.
Hughes' 2023 also included V8-powered cars of the likes of Trans Am and TA2, including a winning outing at Calder Park.
He joins the Erebus Academy, and will race an Erebus Motorsport-built Commodore for Image Racing alongside Super3 champion Jobe Stewart.
Hughes will be engineered by Wayne Mackie, who notably oversaw the 2022 Bathurst wildcard of Greg Murphy and Richie Stanaway.
"I began karting at age ten, consistently ranking in the top five nationally for five years. Transitioning to car racing in mid-2020, I swiftly proved my prowess with notable performances in the Hyundai Excel Series. From racing on iconic circuits like Townsville Street Circuit to securing victories at Queensland Raceway, my passion for motorsport fuels my drive. My ultimate goal? To compete in the Supercar series, and I'm dedicated to making that dream a reality." (Courtesy V8 S8 SUpercars and Jarrod Huges Motorsport)
2024 Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia GR Cup champion Max Geoghegan will graduate to the Dunlop Super2 Series in 2025 in an expanded three-car Erebus Academy effort to be run by Image Racing.
Geoghegan, the grandson of five-time Australian Touring Car Champion and inaugural Supercars Hall of Fame inductee Ian 'Pete' Geoghegan, will join incumbent Erebus juniors Jobe Stewart and Jarrod Hughes in a third ZB Commodore for the 2025 season.
The Sydneysider, who also won the Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia Scholarship Series in 2024, is eagerly anticipating the chance to make his debut in Supercars competition in front of his home crowd in a month's time.
“I am very proud to say I am joining the Erebus Academy and Image Racing for Super2 in 2025,” Geoghegan said.
“I look forward to the challenge ahead and believe I am in the best place to tackle it head-on. We have worked well together so far, and I can’t wait to get hands-on and into the thick of it. “Erebus Academy has such a strong history of nurturing talent, and it’s exciting to be a part of that journey. This is the perfect environment to develop as a driver, and I’m ready to give it my all and see where it takes me.”
Erebus Motorsport CEO Barry Ryan has also welcomed the news, which he believes reinforces their commitment to developing young talent from a grassroots level all the way to Supercars.
“Max has proven he has the talent and attitude to make it to the top of the motorsport tree," Ryan said.
"His impressive two championships in 2024 in the Toyota 86 Scholarship and GR Cup were outstanding. I am excited to see Max progress and show his talents in Super2 in 2025.”
“The Erebus Academy is our commitment to building the next generation of motorsport talent. From karting to Supercars and beyond, we’re working to create clear pathways for young racers to succeed.”

Second generation racer Ryan Wyhoon has been signed up as the latest and youngest member of the Erebus Academy.
Wyhoon joins the Academy run by current two-car Supercars squad Erebus Motorsport at the tender age of 12, but already with six karting seasons under his belt. Ryan is the son of Terry Wyhoon, who has been a major figure in Australian motorsport from racing AUSCAR and NASCAR to more recently running Erebus Motorsport affiliated team Image Racing, which has run Super2 entries and Supercars wildcards.
But the younger Wyhoon has forged his own path with three Morwell Go Kart Club championships, and multiple podium and championship successes, while he has even raced in America.
“I have three Club Championships at Morwell Go Kart Club and I’ve had a couple of podiums in the Golden Power Series but my highest achievement is probably third place at Parolin Junior Sprint Classic at the end of 2022,” Ryan Wyhoon said. “It was a great experience to race in America last year. Being able to spend some time with people who coach Nascar drivers and even the Nascar drivers themselves was a really cool experience.”
